Snake Temple @ Bandar Bayan Baru, Bayan Lepas (福興宮 • 槟城蛇庙)

Also officially known as Hock Hin Keong temple HERE↗️, this unique Penang Snake Temple is a Chinese temple located in Bayan Lepas, Penang.

It’s famous for its resident snakes, primarily Wagler’s pit vipers, which are found coiling around the temple structures and trees.

The temple was built more than 150 years ago to honor Cheng Chooi Chor Soo (清水祖師), a deified Buddhist monk known for his healing abilities and virtue.

Initially surrounded by jungle, the temple is now in a more developed area. The temple is open daily, with free admission, however the parking fee is RM2 per vehicle.

It’s easily accessible by car or bus from Georgetown. Remember to dress respectfully.

它因其栖息的蛇类而闻名,主要是瓦格勒蝮蛇,它们盘绕在寺庙建筑和树木周围。

该寺庙建于 150 多年前,是为了纪念清水祖师而建,他是一位以其治疗能力和美德而闻名的佛教神僧。

这座寺庙最初被丛林环绕,如今位于一个更加发达的地区。寺庙每日开放,免费入场,但停车费为每辆车2令吉。
